Lodi Wineventure: Camping Under the Stars at 3 Wineries with Harvest Hosts

Lodi, California: an uncrowded gem in the heart of wine country, and the perfect destination for our recent Harvest Hosts adventure. We embarked on a three-day wine tour with a twist – camping right in the vineyards!

Day 1: Van Ruiten Family Winery - A Toast Under the Earth Day Moon

Our first stop was Van Ruiten Family Winery, a beautiful property steeped in family history. We kicked things off with a delightful wine tasting on their outdoor patio. The selection was fantastic, and the service was attentive and friendly. As an extra treat, our visit coincided with Earth Day, making the full moon that night even more magical. Camping in the vineyard felt like being one with nature, lulled to sleep by the sounds of crickets and owls.

Day 2: M2 Wines - Modern Style Meets Rustic Charm

Day two brought us to M2 Wines, a winery with a modern twist. Their tasting room, attached to the production facility, offered a cool, industrial backdrop for our exploration of their fantastic wines. We were lucky enough to enjoy a guided tasting and chat with Layne, the vintner himself. The camping here was another highlight – nestled in the vineyard with breathtaking views all around. Needless to say, this winery stay was another winner.

Day 3: Jeremy Wine Co. - Familiar Delights and Campfire Comfort

Last but not least, we arrived at Jeremy Wine Co., to their Lockeford Barrel Room location and another Harvest Hosts gem. We're already big fans of their wines, so the opportunity to camp on-site was a dream come true. We savored a guided tasting and lunch on their patio, overlooking the picturesque vineyard. As always, the wines and service surpassed expectations. While the camping here was located in the front parking lot, it still offered plenty of space and a sense of serenity.

No stop to Lodi, CA would be complete without a visit to our favorite winery, Michael David Winery. Michael David is known for its award-winning wines and beautiful property. Their expansive wine list, includes everything from Sparkling wines, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Cab Franc, Cinsault, blends and more. Their brands include Freakshow, Misfits & Mavens (winery exclusive), Michael David, Earthquake, and Ink Blot. Their sprawling grounds include a beautiful water feature surrounded by seating, a stunning tasting room, cafe, and bakery. We enjoyed a guided tasting and then relaxed on the patio with a bottle of wine and charcuterie.

Lodi's Hidden Gems

Lodi may not be as famous as Napa or Sonoma, but it holds its own when it comes to fantastic wineries, delicious wines, and a relaxed atmosphere. Combining this with the unique experience of camping under the stars at Harvest Host wineries made for an unforgettable trip.
